Study in Georgia with GCSEs and A Levels: International Admissions Guide

This guide is for students holding GCSE, International GCSE, O-level, AS Level, A Level or International A Level results. It also answers the questions we hear most often: Are lower A-level grades considered? Can I apply for Medicine or Dentistry without Biology or Chemistry? Is AS Level enough? Can a foundation year replace an incomplete school qualification? The right first step is a document review, not an assumption based on one grade or subject.

Which GCSE and A-level exam boards are accepted for review?

Admission.ge can review official certificates and certified statements of results from recognised British and international awarding bodies. The applicant may have studied in the UK, the Gulf, Europe, Africa, Asia or elsewhere; the country in which the examinations were taken does not by itself prevent review.

Common awarding bodies include:

• OCR - Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations.
• WJEC / Eduqas - qualifications used in Wales and England.

This list covers the most common boards, but it is not intended to exclude another officially recognised awarding body. Admission.ge checks the issuer, qualification, subjects, results and evidence of school completion as one file. A recognised exam-board certificate is accepted for assessment; final university admission and Georgian recognition depend on the complete document package.

The rule that matters most

For bachelor’s and one-cycle programs such as MD and DMD, the practical starting point is completed secondary education. Georgia’s official recognition process looks at the education document and whether the qualification or learning outcomes can be matched with the relevant Georgian level. This is why Admission.ge starts with your real school documents before asking you to spend money on a full application route.

If you have completed three A-level subjects, including grades such as CCD, your file can be reviewed for Georgian undergraduate and one-cycle admission routes. These grades do not automatically block Medicine, Dentistry or other programs. The same review principle applies to International A Levels from recognised awarding bodies. Admission.ge checks the exact certificates, the selected program, the university route and recognition readiness before advising the next step.

Can I apply for Medicine or Dentistry without Biology or Chemistry?

Yes, you can still be considered for review. Not having Biology or Chemistry at A-level is not treated as an automatic stop by Admission.ge for Georgia. The important point is that your completed secondary education and documents must be suitable for the Georgian admission and recognition process.

This matters for students who chose subjects such as Psychology, Sport, Business, Spanish, Mathematics, IT, humanities or other combinations. If you want MD, DMD or another undergraduate program, send the file first. The team will tell you clearly whether the route is realistic and what should be prepared.

GCSE, O-level and AS Level alone are not enough

GCSE, O-level and AS Level results can support your profile, but they are not normally treated as completed secondary education by themselves. A student who has only GCSE, O-level or AS Level should not assume they can enter an MD, DMD or bachelor’s program directly in Georgia.

This is one of the most common misunderstandings. Good GCSE science results are useful evidence, especially in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English, but they do not replace completed school-leaving evidence for university admission. AS Level also helps explain your academic background, but it is not the same as completing the A-level stage.

A foundation year is not a shortcut

A foundation year should not be used as a promise to bypass missing secondary-education recognition. If the Georgian recognition route still asks for a complete high-school certificate or equivalent education evidence, then doing a foundation year does not remove that requirement.

For this reason, Admission.ge does not encourage students with only GCSE, O-level or AS Level to pay for a route that depends on a foundation-year workaround. The better approach is to review the student’s current documents first and explain the honest route: complete the missing school qualification, provide recognized completion evidence, or choose a path that is actually available.

Documents British-curriculum students should send first

For the first review, keep it simple. Send:

• A Level, International A Level or other completed secondary-education results.
• Passport copy.
• Recent personal photo.

You may also send GCSE, International GCSE, O-level, AS Level results, predicted grades, remark information, personal statement, work experience, sport achievements or academic awards. If an original certificate has not arrived, send the official statement of results available from your school or awarding body. These supporting documents help the admissions team understand the student, especially when final grades do not show the full picture.

Planning for the 2027 intake

If you want to apply for 2027, you do not need to wait until the last minute. Send the documents you already have, mention any remark in progress, and explain your preferred program. Early review gives you time to understand whether your current file is enough, whether another document is needed, or whether you should complete an additional school qualification before applying.
