The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University traces its roots to 1949 and was integrated into the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in 2005 While instruction is primarily in Georgian, a bilingual Georgian‑Russian track exists; no full English BA is currently available The curriculum spans 240 ECTS credits over eight semesters and emphasizes core and elective courses such as: Intro to Journalism & Mass Communication Media Research Methods Online & Broadcast Media Mass Communication Theories Converged Newsroom Practices Media Law & Ethics Practical production (print, audio, video) via the Faculty’s Multimedia Center Students gain hands-on experience by contributing to print and digital publications, producing multimedia content, and completing media internships arranged through collaborations with local media outlets.
